Durbin Calls For CDC Recommendations at Quincy Vets Home
Illinois Senator Dick Durbin is calling on the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs to quickly implement CDC recommendations at the Quincy Veterans Home where 12 residents died from Legionnaires Disease.
More than 50 other people became ill because of the disease, which is spread by water vapor.
The CDC says Legionnaires Disease originated in the portable water system and cooling tower, which were outdated. They recommend purchasing new equipment at the facility and improving maintenance protocols.
