Early voting numbers more than double in Illinois
It's been one week since the midterm primary election, and the number of early votes have more than doubled since the last midterm election, according to preliminary reports.
In 2014, right around 202,000 Illinoisans cast their votes early. This year we saw more than 437,000 early votes. The divide in party votes has also shifted.
This year, 75 percent of early ballots were democrat. That's in comparison to the perfect split between the two parties we saw in 2014.
The Illinois State Board of Elections says it will have final election day turn out numbers on April 20.
