Effingham Police looking for Burger King robbery suspects
EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) —
Two suspects are sought by Effingham police after an alleged armed robbery that occurred Thursday night at an Effingham Burger King.
The incident occurred at 10:21 p.m. at 1308 N. Keller Drive.
Officials received a 9-1-1 call from a Burger King employee who stated the restaurant had been robbed by two suspects, one of which allegedly displayed a handgun.
The Bureau of Patrol Officers arrived on scene within minutes and canvassed the area for the pair.
After allegedly stealing an undisclosed amount of currency, the suspects were observed on video surveillance leaving the restaurant at 10:18 p.m. in a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango.
No injuries occurred during the incident and there were no reports of weapons being fired.
The investigation is still ongoing by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
A similar incident occurred in Greenville, Ill. earlier in the evening and authorities are working to see if both incidents are related.
