Fire truck driver issued citation after Vermilion County crash
The driver of a fire truck who crashed on his way to an apartment fire in Westville has been issued a citation for Disobeyed Traffic Control Device.
The rollover crash happened Monday night on Illinois Route 1 at Ross Lane. A preliminary investigation reveals the fire truck was traveling south on Route 1 at Ross Lane when a minivan pulled out in front of it.
The driver of the minivan had a green light when he pulled out in front of the truck.
The fire truck tanker did have its emergency lights and sirens activated at the time.
The fire truck driver and the two people in the minivan had to be extricated from the vehicles. All three were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
