Illinois Lawmakers React To President-Elect Donald Trump's Win
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) — We are getting reaction from our local representatives on the presidential race.
Republican congressman Rodney Davis gave this statement Wednesday morning.
“President Trump is going to be someone I am more than willing to work with to enact a good conservative fiscal agenda into the future. We have the ability now to send a message to the American people,” said Rep. Rodney Davis (R) Illinois. “The Republicans in Washington got their message and we are going to make some tough decisions that are going to benefit the American people.”
We also heard from Democratic U.S. Senator Dick Durbin who has been a longtime supporter of Hillary Clinton.
He sent us this statement saying in part,
“While the administration will change in January, our core values never will and I will work with all of my strength each day in the Senate to look out for the most vulnerable among us, and to ensure liberty and equality for every person in America.”
