Local superintendent says consistency is key
TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WRSP) —
As lawmakers continue the battle over Senate Bill One, local education advocates are keeping the conversation going as well.
A town hall meeting was held in Taylorville Wednesday night to discuss SB 1. The Taylorville Community Unit School District #3 Superintendent says he's concerned about the continuing decrease in student enrollment, as well as potentially losing general state aid funds. "We have not had any consistency in state funding over the past five years," said Dr. Gregg Fuerstenau. "So, to start a new formula, we need that consistency of knowing what it's going to be and how we can plan for the future."
Despite an uncertain future, Fuerstenau reassured parents that Taylorville schools will open August 16th.
