A local woman is receiving national fame for a post she shared on Facebook about the struggles of getting a nursing degree.

This Lanphier graduate is showing the world hard work pays off.

Faye Lewis' road to get where she is now wasn't easy.

Lewis gave us a glimpse of that through a Facebook post.

“Post it as an encouragement for myself that to keep going,” said Faye Lewis.

Lewis was having a hard day when she posted the photo to Facebook.

“It was my first couple weeks of graduate school and I was having a rough day and I asked my mom to come over and help me with house chores and so I just needed a little encouragement to look back on where I come from,” said Lewis.

Lewis' route to success wasn't without hardship.

The 27-year-old graduate student started working at a local KFC to give her parents some extra cash, but she had bigger dreams.

Lewis' passion for science and becoming a nurse much like her mom kept her motivated.

The price for all that extra schooling was going to be a challenge.

Another hurdle she had to overcome was being pregnant.

Adding to her hardships, losing her dad, cousins, and her dog in a tragic house fire.

“I think he would say keep going don't stop,” she added.

Lewis kept going.

This once KFC employee is now a registered nurse at Memorial Medical Center.

She said she's amazed at knowing her Facebook post has moved so many lives.

“You know it warms my heart that people can get inspired and motivated by my story,” said Lewis.
