DECATUR, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — A man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated DUI with death following a fatal car collision in Decatur.
At approximately 9:25 p.m. on April 18, the suspect, 20-year-old Dylan R. Bunch, was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed in the 1300 block of North Woodford Street in Decatur.
According to Decatur Police, Bunch disobeyed the stop sign at Grand Avenue for southbound traffic on Woodford Street. His vehicle struck the driver's door on a Chevrolet traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue.
The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police reportedly smelled a strong smell of cannabis in Bunch's vehicle.
Bunch was also taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital, where he provided blood and urine samples. Hospital staff said cannabis was present in Bunch's urine sample.
The passenger in the car with Bunch said they were driving at approximately 60 miles per hour.
Proof of insurance was not provided for Bunch's vehicle.
