March for Our Lives in Champaign
High school students from across Champaign County came together Saturday for a local March for Our Lives event.
The march took place in Douglass Park and dozens of community members came out to show their support.
Student organizers explain why they wanted to put on the event locally.
"More gun reforms," Uni High School sophomore Sophia Schmitz said. "Raising the age to 21, making more background checks, making it harder to get guns so that we can keep people who have mental illnesses and things like that to get guns."
The event started with student speakers and ended with a march starting around 3 p.m.
