Menard County residents pushing for 2nd amendment protection
Several people in Menard County want the county to be a gun owner sanctuary.
Residents are asking the commissioners to make it a 2nd amendment sanctuary.
Similar to other counties, the resolution wouldn't change the law but it shows legislators that residents don’t want any changes to the 2nd amendment.
"You were sworn in office to up-hold the constitution and if you are going to try to pass laws that are in violation of the constitution then we the people are going to hold you accountable," Menard County resident Jaigh Lowder said.
The group is asking residents to meet with the commissioners on Tuesday May 29th, 2018.
They will be meeting at the Menard County Courthouse at 6:00 pm.
There are currently 5 other counties with a similar gun sanctuary resolution.
