Dear State Senator,
Please support the Homicide Victims
Families Rights Act , Civil Liability for the Gun Industry, and the Gun Violence Prevention Package.
These bills will help keep Illinoisans, especially our children, safe from gun violence and deceptive gun marketing.
Spokesperson Colleen Aziz shared her thoughts on the ban while recognizing how some mothers were without their children on Mother's Day.
"We are scared to send [our children] shopping, to school, [and] to play dates for the fear they’ll be shot and killed by an assault weapon," Aziz said. "So we don’t want flowers, we don’t want chocolate... We just want the assault weapons ban to pass."
The federal ban expired in 2004.
For those who weren’t in attendance, Moms Demand Action encourages you to contact them to be a part of the campaign.
The event is one of several in a series they call “Mothers Day Of Action.”
On June 3rd, Moms Demand Action will host “Wear Orange Day” at Douglass Park in Champaign.
Families are welcome to help honor the many survivors of gun violence.
