Mother files civil suit against Cunningham Children's Home and Circle Academy

A mother who alleges a former teacher's assistant had sex with her 14-year-old child has now filed a civil suit.

According to her lawyer, the suit is against Cunningham Children's Home and Circle Academy in Urbana.

It claims willful negligence and disregard for her son's welfare.

The mom is seeking $5 million in damages.

According to the Champaign County State's Attorney, 23-year-old Allyssa Gustafson had sex with the 14-year-old student in the student's own home.

She also allegedly sent inappropriate photos to the student.
