The second fatal fire in less than a week in Pana.

Fire Chief Rod Bland said a firefighter made entry into the house on the 400 block of East Fourth Street in an attempt to locate the man.

At this time the coroner’s office is not releasing the identity of the man.

Family on scene say he was a kind-hearted.

Investigators were on scene trying understand what started this blaze, Chief Bland said it was hard to believe the city is dealing with another fatal fire.

"The whole community is really devastated. The guys (firefighters) Seem to be holding up and then for to hit us right again, we will be keeping a close eye on them, but they are a good bunch," said Chief Bland.

Chief Bland said there's no word yet if smoke detectors were in the house.

An autopsy will be held in Bloomington Sunday.

Several agencies were called in to help the Pana Fire Department put out the blaze.
