Update:

The Northern Piatt Fire Department posted on Facebook Wednesday, saying the man who died in a tragic accident on I-74 was a Pesotum firefighter. According to the Piatt County Coroner, the man was 46-year-old Charles McCrone.

Illinois State Police, Piatt County Sheriff deputies, Pro Ambulance and the Piatt County Coroner responded to the scene.

The fire department escorted the firefighter's body to the McClean County Medical Examiner following the accident.

Other agencies who assisted in the accident include Edge-Scott, Cornbelt, Arrow Ambulance, Tolono, Tuscola, and Savoy.

As said in the Facebook post, the department said, "Rest in Peace brother. We will take it from here."

A Pesotum man has died after a two vehicle crash on I-74 Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police report the 46-year-old Pesotum man was driving eastbound on I-74 at milepost 166 when he was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of a woman's truck tractor trailer.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are no charges at this time.
