Propane Gas Powered Vehicle Industry Continues To Grow
It's an emerging trend across the country: The propane industry and growth in propane gas powered vehicles.
The Illinois Propane Gas Association hosted their first Propane Autogas Expo Wednesday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
They aimed to educate the general public about the rise in propane powered vehicles and its advantages.
The Springfield Police Department already uses dozens and many school buses are taking advantage.
"It’s domestically produced; it's not tied to foreign crude oil," said Aaron Deweese, executive director of IPGA. "Number 2, the price has dropped considerably on propane. Number 3, it's cleaner burning than gasoline and diesel."
The Illinois Propane Gas Association says in high levels, the total cost of propane is 30 to 50 percent less than regular gasoline.
