TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) -- U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, of Taylorville, toured the town with Gov. Bruce Rauner Sunday after Saturday's tornado.
Davis spoke about the efforts to put the town back together and the need for neighbors to focus on one another as they move forward overcoming the tragedy.
"This event is personal to me. These are my friends, these are my neighbors. These are the people that I grew up with and still live with. To see my community, also in the aftermath of this tragedy, what you see right behind us, to see my community and friends come together to help each other. That's what makes small town America great. That's what makes towns like Taylorville great. I'm proud to be from here.
Davis also said he appreciated Gov. Rauner's personal visit to the town.
