Semi fire shuts down lanes on I-57

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WICS/WCCU) — 1:45 P.M. UPDATE:

One lane of I-57 northbound is now open. The right lane at milepost 223 is still closed where cleanup is still taking place.

A semi fire shut down several lanes on I-57 Friday morning.

Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to the fire at milepost 223 in Champaign County.

Northbound lanes are shut down and the southbound lanes are down to one lane.

ISP expects the cleanup to take several hours.

Traffic is being diverted from northbound I-57 at milepost 220 onto Route 45.
