Senator Kirk Says He Doesn't Regret Comments About President
Senator Mark Kirk is now responding to comments he made about President Obama.
Last week, the Republican told the State Journal Register quote, "we can't have the President of the United States acting like the drug dealer in chief."
The comments came after it was revealed a $400 million payment to Iran occured at thr same time American prisoners were released.
On Wednesday, Kirk was visited Quincy and told our sister station, that he doesn't regret his comments.
"Not at all. I would say that when my opponent called me 'unhinged' for criticizing the President on that, I would say it is 'unhinged' to give $400 million in cash to terrorists," said Senator Mark Kirk. "Remember, right after the money was delivered, Iran announced that they were creating a foreign legion to create problems for the United States all around the world. I wanna make sure that we're more secure over time. I think we are much less secure now that we've given the Iranians so much cash."
Senator Kirk is in a bitter re-election fight against Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth.
