Springfield Public Works prepping roads ahead of Friday snow
Crews in the Capital City are gearing up for the first snowfall of November.
The first measurable snowfall of the season is always tricky - especially when it comes to driving.
Crews are preparing for Friday morning snow even if it's forecasted to be very minimal.
Public works will brine roads Thursday, well before the first snowflakes fall.
They ask that everyone do their part by driving slowly and cautiously, and clear off sidewalks of any snow or ice for pedestrians.
"Even if there's not much accumulation, it sounds like we're probably going to have some conditions where there's going to be some conditions where the roads are going to be somewhat hazardous,” Springfield Public Works Director Mark Mahoney said. “So, we ask people to be very careful."
With snow falling overnight before the morning commute, bridges and most streets could be slick without traffic to warm the roads.
