State Representative Murphy's first bill is filed
One new state lawmaker is already taking action at the State Capitol Friday.
Representative Mike Murphy replaced Sara Wojcicki Jimenez in the House. Murphy just filed his first bill in the Illinois House and he said it will provide a much-needed boost to our local economy.
This bill will allow local government to collect sales tax on online purchases made in their territory.
"I think it's important because you know, those local jobs that are provided by the local retailers...we need to keep those," Murphy said. "We're losing retail jobs at an unbelievable amount."
Murphy said that if our brick and mortars are strong, it'll mean we'll have local jobs and people working.
This will then strengthen the local economy.
