DECATUR, Ill. (WICS) — The Illinois House of Representatives has passed a resolution to honor a fallen state trooper with ties to Decatur.
Illinois Route 121 will now honor Trooper Todd Hanneken.
On March 25, state trooper Todd Hanneken was driving west on Illinois 10 in Bondville when his vehicle left the road and crashed.
Hanneken later died at the hospital.
Representative Dan Caulkins, a sponsor of the resolution, said, "[Hanneken’s] memory will be forever enshrined in our community by dedicating a portion of our local highway in his honor."
The section of 121 to be honored runs from the Macon County line to the intersection of Route 36 in Decatur.
