Taco John's Reopens In Champaign After Around 20 Years

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WRSP) — People are now enjoying Taco John’s in Champaign for dinner for the first time since the 1980s.

The new restaurant opened Monday on Prospect Drive, near the movie theatre.

Taco John’s on Green Street closed down decades ago. The new owners decided it was time to bring it back, and they expect to be very busy.

"I think it's going to do great," Brian Dodd, vice president of operations for CRS Ventures, said. "I think we've had a great response today. A lot of people were here for the grand opening at 10, lined up and waiting to get in, so it was exciting to see.”

Taco John's won't be the only new business in the area. Dodd says they expect new retail partners to fill out that strip mall soon.
