CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCCU) — A local performance venue in downtown Champaign is closing its doors, but it'll re-open as a live performance venue very soon.
Manager of The Accord announced that he'll be closing the venue by the end of April, but the very next day another music lover in town will be opening and taking ownership of the venue with his son.
The owner of The Accord said he wanted to focus his attention more on the Pygmalion Festival that takes place in town every year. The new owners Rod Sickler and Zachary Sickler, said they’re excited for people to see what they have in store.
“We’re very excited there's already some great synergy with us already having Memphis on Main and now 51 on Main,” the Sicklers said. “We’d like to say the party starts and stops on Main street. What we'd also like to add as well is potentially live theater since we're both theater lovers and actors.”
The new name of the venue will be 51 main and it'll host live musical performances and events. The Sicklers will also take ownership of the bar next door, Memphis on Main.
