Man Cited for Collision with Amtrak Train

Traffic is flowing Thursday morning after a car hit a train at the crossing of the Third Street Rail and Laurel Stree, in Springfield.

Police tell us that one male in his mid-30s was in the car at the time of the crash, around 10:00 pm Wednesday night.

He was taken to Memorial Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses say he tried to cross the tracks while the crossing arms were down.

Police have cited the driver for disobeying a crossing signal, driving while uninsured, and driving on a suspended license.
