Two arrested for first-degree murder in Decatur from 2022

DECATUR, Ill. (WICS) — Two people were arrested on Friday for first-degree murder in connection to the death of Kemareon L. Rice.

On March 5, 2022, Rice was shot while in the parking lot of 1909 S. Mt. Zion Road.

Kemareon later died as a result of his injuries. Arrest warrants were obtained for Travell D. Washington 22, and Freiashya L. Ayres 23.

On Friday the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force located Washington and Ayres in Rantoul, Illinois. Washington and Ayres will be booked into the Champaign County Jail.
