Woman dies after rollover crash on Old Route 54
Illinois State Police said a woman involved in a rollover crash on Old Route 54, near Farley Road, Wednesday night was transported to a hospital for injuries and later died.
The driver, Carolyn Rodgers, was a 75-year-old female from Springfield, according to police.
The Sangamon County Coroner, Cinda Edwards, said she was pronounced deceased at Memorial Medical Center's Emergency Room at 4:59 p.m.
An autopsy was conducted in Springfield Thursday morning and her preliminary cause of death is from injuries sustained in the accident.
The crash was a rollover and the woman was entrapped until officials arrived on scene.
Police responded around 4 p.m. No other passengers or vehicles were involved in the crash.
Further testing performed at the autopsy is still pending.
The crash is still under investigation.
