CHATHAM, Ill. (WICS) — Glenwood High School Alum Jacob Maton made his Minor League Baseball debut earlier in May.
Maton is currently on the Hickory Crawdads, the High-A Affiliate for the Texas Rangers. He made his debut on Saturday, May 6th, against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.
Maton pitched one and two-thirds innings allowing two hits and two runs. Maton also walked one and struck out one.
The Crawdads would go on to lose that game 13-1.
Maton would make his next appearance on Thursday, May 11, against the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
Maton would allow one hit, zero runs, and struck out one batter in an inning of work. The Crawdads would lose that game 5-4.
In two appearances Maton's ERA is 6.75.
Maton signed with the Rangers as a free agent in July of 2022.
Since then he was assigned to the Arizona Cactus League Rangers, then to the Hickory Crawdads.
