Falcons-Trojans II presents a State rematch with a lot riding for GCMS and Maroa-Forsyth

GCMS Senior lineman Hayden Workman all smiles when explaining what a repeat title would mean to him

The 2017 IHSA 2A State Championship game was an epic shootout featuring 8 lead changes. In the end, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley won its 1st State Title in program history. On the other sideline, Maroa-Forsyth was handed its 2nd straight loss in the Title game.

As Falcons-Trojans II gears up for Friday afternoon, both programs want a win but for different reasons.

Maroa-Forsyth wants to establish its dominance as one of the premier football programs in the state of Illinois. 8 State appearances and 2 State Titles since 2006 is an impressive resume, but Josh Jostes hopes to add his 3rd Championship.

GCMS going for the repeat Championship. One they hope will establish them in the same conversation with Maroa-Forsyth as a perennial contender, and prove that their 27 straight wins is no fluke.
