Lutheran Athletics awarded three MSM conference awards

Springfield, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — At the end of the year Macoupin Sangamon and Morgan Counties conference meeting, Makenna Cox, a senior from Lutheran High School is the Chad Langheim Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Cox's fellow Crusader Ethan Theilen, a senior from Lutheran High School is the Chad Langheim Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. Volleyball head coach Katie McCulley is the Ron Irving Coach of the Year. This is the first time ever that the conference has awarded all three individual awards to one school.

This will be Makenna Cox's second year in a row receiving this award. She is the second athlete in conference history to receive this honor twice. Cox is an all-state and conference volleyball player for Lutheran.

Lutheran senior Ethan Theilen is a three-sport athlete with many accolades and honors in Boy's cross country, track and field, and baseball.

Lutheran's Volleyball head coach Katie McCulley was named the Ron Irving coach of the year, following a second-place finish in the Class 1 IHSA Volleyball championship and a 38-4 record on the season in 2022-2023.
