CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCCU/WICS) — In early May, coach Erin Quarnstrom announced that she would be resigning from her position as the St. Thomas More girl's head basketball coach. Erin Quarnstrom led the Sabers to a 28-8 record in the 2022-2023 season and a fourth-place finish in the state.
St. Thomas More announced on Thursday that they have hired Kenny Hanshew as their new girl's basketball head coach. He joins the Sabers following his time at Blue Ridge. Hanshew led the Knights to a 4-11 record on the season in 2022-2023.
Hanshew will take over a girls' basketball program that will bring back Rauri Quarnstrom and Grace Dimoke while losing key contributors Emma Devocelle, Ava Dickerson, and Maddie Swisher to graduation.
