Champaign, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Tuscola High School hosted the Boy's 1A track and field sectional on Wednesday for local teams around the Central Illinois area.
Teams in attendance for the sectional: Arcola, Argenta (A.-Oreana), Arthur (A.-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond), Bethany (Okaw Valley), Cerro Gordo, Decatur (St. Teresa), Deland (D.-Weldon), Macon (Meridian), Maroa (M.-Forsyth), Marshall, Moweaqua (Central A & M), Mt. Pulaski, Neoga, Niantic (Sangamon Valley), Pana, Shelbyville, Sullivan, Tuscola and Warrensburg (W.-Latham).
Jeremy Walker of St.Teresa placed first in the 200 meters with a time of 23.23, the fastest timing of his high school career, setting a new personal record.
Walker's teammate Caleb Kernaghan placed first in the 800 meters, with a 1:57.63 time. Right behind him in second place was Josiah Hortin of Tuscola, .01 seconds off, clocking 1:57.64.
Hortin's teammate Chris Boyd took home first in the sectional in the shot put. Boyd separated himself from the rest of the group with an 18.2-meter throw. Mitchel Meyers or Arcola placed second with a 16.7m shot put.
