Historic day in the Big Ten for Bren Spillane and Illini baseball
Illinois first baseman Bren Spillane was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the 3rd straight week today. He is the first player to ever win the award in three consecutive weeks.
Spillane's third conference accolade also marks the 5th straight week that Illinois baseball has earned the award with Michael Massey and Doran Turchin also receiving the award.
The Illini are the first team in Big Ten history to win 5 consecutive Big Ten Player of the Week accolades.
The Fighting Illini went 2-2 this week as Spillane stayed red hot at the plate going 7-11 with 5 HR.
He finished the month of March hitting .540 with 13 HR and 31 RBI.
