Illini defense continues to show improvement

Illinois (2-5,0-5) who has struggled in the Big Ten, continues to show improvement on the defense side of the ball. The Illini have forced 13 fumbles in 2017, the most in the nation. During the Minnesota, Illinois came up with a pair of interceptions that kept the Illini in the game.

"Guy are taking a step forward, looking at the secondary, Bennett, Nate Hobbs has played well for us. Stanley had his first career interception so that was pretty cool to watch. You know Jalen Dunlap so, guys on the back end have been playing well, last week we ran the football so much they really didn't challenge us on the field. When they did, we came up with the ball, at really crucial times so, that was big, in terms of making those plays and those types of situations, so we just gotta build on." said Defensive Coordinator Hardy Nickerson.

Illinois will host #5 Wisconsin on Saturday at 11 p.m.
