CHAMPAIGN, Ill (WCCU) - Illinois football not only adding players to its roster on National Signing Day, but some new coaches as well.
Lovie Smith filling the defensive coaching staff by making three moves official this afternoon. Smith naming himself the Illini defensive coordinator, a role he filled over the final four games of the regular season in 2018.
The fourth year head coach adding a very familiar face to be the new linebackers coach naming his son Miles to the position. The youngest Smith son spent last season as a defensive back coach at Illinois and despite being young and inexperienced, is eager for the challenge moving forward.
Keynodo Hudson was also brought in from Florida Atlantic to be the new cornerbacks coach.
The only position yet to be filled on the Illinois coaching staff is running backs coach after Thad Wards departure to Temple last week.
